THE CHALLENGE
As the Sail GP series has grown organically through its first four seasons, the organisation has recognised the need to identify operational efficiencies that will allow it to evolve from its current iteration into a global racing series, not only at the cutting edge of on water racing, but also at the pinnacle of global sporting events.
THE SOLUTION
Trivandi mobilised operational leaders from within our core team to embed within the Sail GP team at various races on the circuit.
We provided guidance and advice on the operational management of similar global series events, working with senior leaders within the organisation to understand current delivery methodologies, opportunities to develop organisational structure, reporting, risk management and logistics to facilitate faster and more consistent deliveries globally.
We implemented limited operational changes and led workshops to prepare Sail GP for Season 5 of the series.
THE RESULT
Trivandi worked with Sail GP on a number of levels to support in the evolution of Sail GP, providing advice and guidance on how to transform the series from its current iteration into Sail GP 2.0.
Initially the Trivandi team focused on the integration of experienced event leaders and SME's into the day-to-day operation of the Sail GP team, providing real time advice and guidance on event operations, daily rhythms and cadence to ensure the delivery team were able to maintain control of their activities while continuing to deliver world class events.
Further to the live advice and guidance provided, the Trivandi team has produced a range of reports focused on key aspects of the Sail GP delivery.
The tech team, as the backbone of the on-water operations at Sail GP events, received significant focus and an extensive report has been provided on opportunities to enhance operational and financial efficiency, not only with short term recommendations, but with a long-term strategy that will support the team as they develop over the coming years.
As the tech team does not operate in a silo, a broader piece of work has been undertaken to provide the organisation with a holistic review and series of recommendations to enhance operations, support services and governance across the business, providing a framework for the resiliency that will see Sail GP into the future.
A roadmap for a Sail GP series lifecycle wraps these projects together, bringing the recommendations out of the theoretical and into a workable management plan that can be applied to events as they are planned and delivered moving forwards.
