The Saudi Surf Federation was founded in 2020 with the aim of promoting and developing surfing as a sport in Saudi Arabia. As the governing body for surfing in the country, the federation is responsible for organising competitions, supporting local surfers, and enhancing the sport’s visibility and growth.

THE CHALLENGE

Each year the Saudi Olympic Committee evaluates each sport federation’s operational documents, including strategies, governance and execution plans, to determine operational budget allocation for the next financial year.

THE SOLUTION

Trivandi were re-appointed by SSF in 2024 to support with the development of their annual strategy for the second consecutive year, building on the progress that had been made the previous year.

This included reviewing their mission to “build a successful system that supports the participation of Saudi individuals within our sports at all levels”, conducting a SWOT analysis to determine current state, benchmarking SSF against other leading international surf federations, and taking the combined findings to identify SSF’s upcoming strategic priorities, linking them back to KSA’s national objectives.

THE RESULT

Saudi Surfing Federation received a maximum 5/5 rating by the Saudi Olympic Committee in its 2024 operational review.

It achieved the second highest ranking out of 66 sports federations in Saudi Arabia.

SSF will now receive maximum available funding to drive forward its initiatives to grow surfing in Saudi Arabia on a grass roots and elite level.
