Birmingham 2022, XXII Commonwealth Games

Birmingham 2022 aimed to showcase Birmingham on a global stage, requiring thorough planning and strategic input to ensure its success.

Trivandi was tasked with leading the technical assessment and proposal development for Birmingham City Council’s bid to host the Commonwealth Games. This involved conducting a pre-Bid feasibility study, providing strategic support for the bid proposals, and developing a comprehensive Venue Masterplan and Operational Overlay. The challenge was to evaluate and plan for all proposed venues to support the bid and ensure their feasibility and operational efficiency.

Trivandi led the technical assessment for the bid, developing detailed proposals and conducting a feasibility study. We created overlay block plans for all competition venues to test their viability, supported the development of the Venue Masterplan, and contributed to the Venues and Infrastructure sections of the bid documentation. Our strategic advisory and masterplanning services were integral to shaping a compelling and practical bid for the Commonwealth Games.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham were a tremendous success, celebrated for their smooth execution and impactful delivery. Key highlights included the city’s effective use of venues and infrastructure, which showcased Birmingham’s capability to host a major international event.
